How To Make Custom ROM Stable And Battery Friendly
I been through a lot, Installing custom ROM and judging in three seconds but now i reach sanity, and believe me this article make so many ROM compatible.
Honestly, I'm a fan of custom ROMs that is based on ASOP but I got to admit it, they don't get every phones serious, because they trying to cover as much as phones they can and that make things a little messy because fast work will not be as good as the stock ones that the manufacture build, but there are still good AOSP based ROMs that are worth to try and with some tips for battery and stability they can be even better than the stock ones;
For Battery :
First, after you find your favorite ROM install it when you device has 100% battery and I do recommend to charge your device immediately to 100% again and reinstall the ROM again;
Second, nowadays most custom ROMs does have double tap wake feature inspired by HTC, not the same as HTC, HTC put the motion sensor on and after recognizing movement that sensor turn on touch and after double tap screen will turn on but in this custom ROMs there is no place for motion sensor therefore touch will be always on even when screen is off and that use a lot of more battery than motion sensor; just disable it through an app like kernel aditor(be aware this app need root access);
For Stability :
First, never ever install substream I've been there as you are and we both know this app will do things a lot worse;
Second, always install the pico version of Open Gapps, that make your ROM smooth and lights;

Third, don't let your phone reach under 15% battery, because sometime that cause bootloop because phone get confused between the real amount of battery and the one on your device settings; the real amount are always a few percent above than settings, according of this fact device will be shut down when it has still some battery, the problem is when device get mess up this two and that cause problem such as turning phone down when it has some juice (because the real is less than fake) , bootloop (because rom think it has the juice but when it booting real amount say no I do not have and power down device;
Fourth, some people say double tap wake feature make some random reboot on some ROMs( I don't have any ideas) but for battery sake disable it.
